STRIKE COMMAND GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS - 2007

The 2007 STC Golf Championships will be held as follows:

STC Individual and Inter-Stn ‘C’ Division Championships – Torksey (Lincoln) GC on 11 Sep 07.

STC ‘C’s – TORKSEY (LINCOLN) GC ON 11 SEP 07

‘C’ Division Individual Championship. The ‘C’ Division Individual Competition will be a 36-hole Stableford handicap competition to be played on 11 Sep. All players will play off 7/8 handicap. The playing handicap limits for entry into this competition, and all ‘C’ Division events, is 15 or greater, but with a playing handicap restriction of 21. The OIC Golf of a player whose playing handicap falls below 15 after the entry application has been submitted, is to contact the STC Golf Secretary before the day of the competiton! It is probable that the individual will be asked to withdraw from the competition, to be replaced, ideally by another player from the same station or from the reserve list. In the event of the competition being under-subscribed, the player whose handicap has fallen below the requisite 15 may be invited to participate in the competition but will be excluded from winning the Championship. Players will be eligible for one prize only and the field will be limited to 60 competitors.

‘C’ Division Inter-Stn Championship. The ‘C’ Division Inter-Stn Championship will be a 36-hole Stableford competition played off 7/8 handicap. This event will be played concurrently with the Individual Championship. Teams will consist of 3 nominated players, but numbers permitting, stns may enter more than one team. The winning team will have the best aggregate Stableford points score for all 3 players over the 36 holes.

The closing date for entries to the STC 'C' is the 28th August

ELIGIBILITY

The STC Golf Championships are open to all officers and other ranks on the posted strength of STC units, including personnel of Foreign and Commonwealth Forces. Civilians are ineligible. RAF personnel from JHC stns have been invited to participate and are eligible for all prizes. STC units that do not reside on STC stns (in the case of JFH, P&SS units, dstl Farnborough, 591SU, 22 and 202 Sqns) are eligible to play in the competitions but only STC personnel are permitted to play, no host stn players being allowed. If more than one team is entered from each stn/unit and it is necessary to limit the number of teams, the earlier application(s) will take preference for entry. All players are required to have an official handicap from either a recognised golf club or golf society, and must provide proof on registration.

It is confirmed that Ladies, complying with the above eligibility criteria, are entitled to enter the STC Golf Championships. However, they will be required to play off the Men’s Competition tees and, for the handicap competitions, will be awarded an additional handicap allowance equal to the difference between the course’s Men’s and Ladies’ Standard Scratch Score.

INSURANCE

Players will not be allowed to compete without proof of appropriate Personal Liability insurance. RAFGA insurance is acceptable and registration forms (available through the RAFGA website at http://www.rafga.org.uk/#) will also be available on the day.

RULES

All play will be in accordance with the R&A Rules of Golf. Decisions pertaining to the application of rules will be made by the Championship Committee. Laser or GPS devices which measure distance only (ie not gradient, temperature, wind-speed etc) will be allowed in STC golf events during the 2007 season.

DRESS

All the courses require smart casual dress. Similarly, no denim clothing or collarless shirts are to be worn on the courses or in Clubhouses. Shorts are acceptable, but only if tailored.

All competitors are to wear jacket and tie for the formal dinner and presentations on the final day of each of the Championships.

ENTRIES AND COSTS

Entries. Stn Officers IC Golf are requested to submit entries on the entry forms at Annexes C. The closing date for receipt of entries is 28 Aug 07 for the ‘C’ Championships. Entries received after these dates will only be accepted if the event is undersubscribed. If these deadlines are not met then other stns will be offered the opportunity to field additional teams. Please note that failure to replace a player who is withdrawn will result in the elimination of the team from the Inter-Stn competition.

Costs. The contribution required for each player is as follows:

‘C’ Division Championships, Torksey GC. Subject to the scale of the Sports Board funding allocation to STC for 2007, the provisional cost for an individual to enter the STC ‘C’ Championships is £45. In the event of this cost being changed, the revised cost will be announced, accompanied by an amended Application Form, on the RAFGA website not later than 20 Apr 07.

The cost for competitions includes Green Fees, prizes, early morning coffee and bacon rolls, light lunch and evening meal on the 1st day of competition. Stn reps are advised that entries will not normally be accepted without the entry fee. In exceptional circumstances, the entry fee may be accepted after the closing date but before the competition date; players will not be allowed to play if the entry fee has not been paid by the competition date. Entry fees will only be reimbursed in exceptional circumstances. Once details have been passed to the host Golf Club, normally one week prior to the start of each event, no refunds can be made as costs will have been settled by the STC Golf Committee.

ACCOMMODATION

The availability of accommodation for competitors at nearby RAF stns or other military units is unable to be guaranteed. Officers IC Golf are requested to arrange accommodation for their teams and, if attempting to book military mess accommodation, are advised to do so at the earliest opportunity to ensure availability of rooms.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Competitors are able to play a practice round on the afternoon of the day preceding each of the Championships at a discounted price. Details of the practice rounds for the 2007 Championships are as follows:

STC ‘C’ Championships - Afternoon of Mon 10 Sep 07, cost £17.50.

Team Captains are required to deal directly with the club professionals at the relevant clubs (contact numbers available on relevant websites) to book practice round tee times.

ARRIVAL AND REGISTRATION

The first tee-off time for all STC Championships is 0800 hrs. Accordingly, players are required to register for the event between 0700-0745 hrs on the first morning of the event. An update for the event will be published on the RAF Golf Association website (http://www.rafga.org.uk/#) approximately 2 weeks prior to the event and individuals’ tee-off times will be published, on the same website, approximately 3 working days prior to the event. The individual’s actual tee-off time does not remove the requirement to register at the specified times above.

TRAVEL

Reclaim of travel expenses is permissible under JSP 752 Ch 4 Sect 8. Claims and warrants should quote PTC/299000/14/3/DSB(RAF) dated 20 Sep 06 and your stn UIN.
